Hurricane Irma  has battered the Florida Keys, destroying roadways and isolating residents who didn't evacuate the string of islands, prompting one county's emergency management director to call the situation a possible "humanitarian crisis." 

After battering Cuba early Saturday and leaving more than 20 dead across the Caribbean, a dangerous Hurricane Irma is taking aim at south Florida with winds nearing 160 mph as another hurricane follows close behind.  

Hurricane Irma's size and strength put the entire state of Florida on notice on Tuesday, and residents and visitors prepared to leave in anticipation of catastrophic winds and floods that could reach the state by this weekend.
